Lone Peak
After 2 weeks of bogus weather forecasts and conflicting work schedules, Matt Rink and I finally met up to ski Lone Peak yesterday. Being my second 3am start in a row, it was tough to get out of bed, but the masoquistic side of me drives most of the time. We gained the snowline after about 2k vert and began to make quick work to upper Big Willow Cirque.
We traded crampons for skins to make the push up to the top of Big Willow.

After peeking around the corner at the cirque........

....we pushed onto the summit.

Looking over at Question Mark Wall.

Our initial objective was to ski the NE Couloir. It looked incredible from the top, however the close call on Dresden is still fresh on my mind. Matt and I each had individual concerns regarding snow conditions of which the sum equalled our decision to ski Big Willow Cirque instead. The snow on North Facing aspects was still firm, but by noon we decided to head down.

Matt with the summit behind.

Down into Big Willow Cirque

I've grown up looking at the Aprons of Big Willow Cirque. Even though it was my 4th time skiing them, it was nastalgic to ski them one final time before leaving Utah this summer.
We were able to walk around the corner and found an exit into Bells Canyon. We rode the white wave as far as we could.

Maybe we rode it too far. We twitched back to shoes for the last leg to the car. With trees overhead I was glad to be short and on 182's as opposed to Matt (tall) and longer skis.
