Luxury Liner & Rock Falls in Indian Creek

Could be mine and Kristins' last time in the creek before we move. So we hopped on some classics.

Snapdragon Wave Attempt

While skiing Coalpit last year with Jason West, we spotted an incredible line in upper Hogum. Finally we got to check it out. The line seen here in April 2008.

Lone Peak

After 2 weeks of bogus weather forecasts and conflicting work schedules, Matt Rink and I finally met up to ski Lone Peak yesterday. Being my second 3am start in a row, it was tough to get out of bed, but the masoquistic side of me drives most of the time. We gained the snowline after about 2k vert and began to make quick work to upper Big Willow Cirque.

We traded crampons for skins to make the push up to the top of Big Willow.

A new personal best

I have had more than my share of opportunities to hike really far and ski down on one ski this year. After a 3 am start, my binding once again decided to test my commitment to skiing on one ski, 400 ft below the Pfeiferhorn's summit ridge. I must say it was challenging, but anything worthwhile is right? Breakable crust, tight trees, and over 3000 vertical feet did not deter me from my quest! A party of three shook their heads in disbelief as I passed by. There aren't many out there willing to participate in this new "sport".

Hubo mucha lluvia.

Bill Briggs Inducted into the Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame

This is old (3 weeks) news but ski legend and mountaineer Bill Briggs was just recently inducted into the Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. Its fantastic to see aspects of our sport, other than racing, being recognized. He was the first person to ski the Grand Teton, and did so with a fused hip.

Invierno regreso' al Wasatch

Winter returned to the Wasatch yesterday and it's messing with my head. I was in a great head space where I was perfectly fine farming corn for the rest of the season......and then I had to go and get a face shot or two....Suprisingly, I've never seen the Wasatch so EMPTY. I can handle everyone else having spring fever though. It was a great moring with some great friends, Steve Lloyd and Christian Overson. I'm going to miss the Wasatch.

Lucky on Dresden

Yesterday, Andy Burr and I set out at 5 am with multiple goals on Thunder Ridge, in Hogum Fork. Depending on conditions, we were thinking of skiing either the Dresden Face, or Montgomery's, a tight chute with a 75' rap in the middle. To give ourselves both options, I hauled a 50m line, an ice tool w/ a hammer, and a small rack of stoppers since the anchor in Montgomery's is reportedly pretty sketch. However, this slowed me down considerably, and we didn't reach the col on the North Ridge of the Pfeiferhorn until 8:15.

Last Day at Alta, Devils Castle, West Wall

Being the last day we'd be skiing at Alta, Kristin and I spent yesterday morning skiing mashed potatoes, reminiscing about the good and bad about this season.
